OUR VISION FOR EDUCATION

Bread and Water for Africa realizes that education is not a key to success for African children, but THE key to success. Ensuring that ALL children – orphaned, abandoned and destitute – have the opportunity to build a better life for themselves through education is essential.
THE CHALLENGES
One third of young people in sub-Saharan Africa – more than 56 million teens and young adults ages 15 to 24 – fail to complete even primary school and lack skills for any type of meaningful employment. According to a recent UNESCO report, sub-Saharan Africa remains the region with the highest out-of-school rates for all age groups: more than half (57 percent) or all youth between ages 15 and 17 are not in school, as are more than one-third (36 percent) of adolescents between 12 and 14, and one-fifth (21 percent) of children between the ages of 6 and 11.
WHAT BWA IS DOING

Through our school fee assistance program, Bread and Water for Africa pays school fees for hundreds of impoverished primary and secondary school- age children who otherwise would have no opportunity for an education. In addition, Bread and Water for Africa has constructed schools, such as the Kipkeino Primary School in Kenya and the Logos Academy in Sierra Leone. In addition, we have funded the construction of additional classrooms and a laboratory at the new Kebeneti Secondary School in Kenya.

WHERE WE WORK
We are working in 16 countries to provide safe and loving homes to over 200 children.

For nearly two decades, Bread and Water for Africa® partners operating on the grassroots level in African villages and local communities have been working to provide loving homes for orphaned and abandoned children. This includes the basic necessities of food, clean water, health care, as well as education so that they can built better lives as they enter adulthood.
