Mission Continues to Combat Global COVID-19 Pandemic is #GivingTuesdayNow, a new global day of giving and unity created as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19. As the global coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic begins sweeping through the continent, hospitals need medical supplies and medicines now more than ever, especially in Ethiopia. There, we partner with the Haramaya University Hospital Health Center, which operates several hospitals and clinics in the eastern part of the country, as well as a teaching hospital to train young men and women to become doctors. The coronavirus pandemic has reached the country, and now that hospitals will soon be stretched to their limits, our goal for #GivingTuesdayNow is to send a 40-foot sea container filled with medical supplies to Ethiopia.

Once there, these medical supplies will be distributed to Haramaya Hospital, the Hiywot Fana Teaching Hospital, Garamuleta Hospital, and Deder Hospital. Combined, these four hospitals will be able to serve tens of thousands in dire need of life-saving primary care and clinical services, and up to 200,000 people combined this year alone. The cost to send these life-saving medicines and medical equipment is around $9,000. The supplies have been donated and are ready to be shipped.
