In August 2025, 23-year-old Hannah Kainesie experienced a parent’s worst nightmare when her little one faced severe dehydration due to persistent diarrhea. Residing in Mogbevo Village with her husband and two young children, Hannah navigates the challenges of irregular income from her small-scale farming and petty trading. “Some days, we manage to sell enough; other days, it’s a struggle,” she shared. “When a child is unwell, thoughts of how to seek help flood your mind.”
As her child grew weaker and refused food or water, Hannah knew it was time to act. With her neighbors’ support, she bravely walked miles to the Mokpendeh Maternal and Child Health Post (MCHP).
At the clinic, Nurse Anthonient Victor quickly recognized the signs of dehydration. He began treatment with Liquid IV Hydration Multiplier, provided by RYDO-SL in partnership with Bread and Water for Africa® and MAP International. “When the nurse said, ‘You brought your child at just the right moment,’ I felt a spark of hope,” Hannah recalled.
The nurse not only administered the treatment but also took the time to explain home care, proper hygiene, and the importance of safe drinking water. Thanks to this proactive care, Hannah’s child began to regain strength and alertness, allowing them to return home that same day—avoiding further health complications and financial strain.
“This treatment truly saved my child,” Hannah said, her heart full of gratitude. “The nurse’s kindness and clear guidance gave me the courage to face this challenge.”
