“My name is Wendy Liswan. Being raised in a big family was quite a challenge. It was very difficult for my grandmother to sponsor me and my siblings with very little money coming in from her small business. At times we all had to go without food.

When Kabwata Orphanage was opened in 1998, my siblings and I were brought to the orphanage and this is where I was sponsored academically, as well as provided with the rest of life’s necessities. My life was changed for the better because of the people there who showed me love, care, and support in all things. I have never lacked anything since arriving at Kabwata Orphanage. With their support I completed my primary and secondary education and went onto college in a two year secretarial and office management course. In 2009 I was accepted at Inter-Market Bank as a customer care clerk. I am still at the orphanage but intend to leave once I can find proper accommodations. For now I contribute to the orphanage every month with a portion of my monthly salary.

I would like to thank everyone who has been there for me and supported me. I have never met some of you, but you have contributed so much to the orphanage and to my life. Thank you very much.

I have attached a couple of pictures so that you can see how much you have given me in my life. My mum, Angela, provides with the contributions you make and I am forever grateful for what she and the other mothers have done for me. I have reached where I am today because of the discipline she gave me. I am her daughter, and she is the mother that God provided for me.

God will always remember all that you have provided me with in my life, and all that you have done for the orphanage. May God bless you!

Thank you Bread and Water for Africa!

– Wendy Liswan”
