Despite the amazing progress Reverend Mambu has been able to sustain in Sierra Leone through his educational, agricultural, and health projects with Bread and Water for Africa, there is always more to be done!
Currently, with the help of Bread and Water for Africa®, Reverend Mambu is working toward the construction of a permanent school structure in Waterloo, Sierra Leone. While the Faith Healing and Development Organization (FHDO) does strive to hold classes in Waterloo for the poor and disadvantaged children of the community, the lack of a physical and permanent structure makes for an unstable and inconsistent teaching and learning environment. And as we know – these children need no more instability and inconsistency in their lives!

Currently, with the help of Bread and Water for Africa®, Reverend Mambu is working toward the construction of a permanent school structure in Waterloo, Sierra Leone. While the Faith Healing and Development Organization (FHDO) does strive to hold classes in Waterloo for the poor and disadvantaged children of the community, the lack of a physical and permanent structure makes for an unstable and inconsistent teaching and learning environment. To date, FHDO has successfully established thirteen schools for underprivileged – oftentimes abandoned – children throughout Sierra Leone and we at Bread and Water for Africa® have full faith that this next endeavor will bring magical results to the children of Waterloo who yearn for the opportunity for a real school experience.
In addition to this education project, FHDO is working hard to bolster the agricultural pillar of their goals. They hope to restore some stability to the local farmers of Rokel and surrounding villages by implementing a drip irrigation system on their community farm. Such a system is very innovative for Sierra Leone, where the infrastructure has left few experts in the region that could fully implement such an elaborate scheme. A drip irrigation system would allow farmers to take full advantage of the nearby Rokel River water source to harvest from their land even during the dry season – which takes up half the year! Obviously this is a huge benefit to the farmers and communities in the region since they depend on the food they can produce to survive the year. This system means that – regardless of the seasons and potential flooding from the rains – no small bellies will go hungry during the year for lack of adequate food.
Though these are daunting tasks, we proceed in full faith with our partners, knowing that through the continued support of our compassionate donors like yourself – we can continue our strides in empowering individuals in Africa to work together toward a brighter future with great opportunities.
