World Environment Day; Working Towards Sustainable Development

Tuesday, June 5, 2012

Uganda-smWorld Environment Day reminds us that out of 7 billion people on earth, only 5 billion have access to clean water and sanitation. It reminds us that one in four people in Sub-Saharan Africa will suffer from malnourishment. World Environment Day reminds us that without the aid of Baraka Farm and Namunkanga Sustainable Farming Program, these heartbreaking statistics will continue afflicting our world.

Baraka Farm

Baraka Farm, Eldoret, Kenya

World Environment Day reminds us that out of 7 billion people on earth, only 5 billion have access to clean water and sanitation. It reminds us that one in four people in Sub-Saharan Africa will suffer from malnourishment. World Environment Day reminds us that without the aid of Baraka Farm and Namunkanga Sustainable Farming Program, these heartbreaking statistics will continue afflicting our world.

June 5th reminds us that the Baraka Farm is stopping over 350 children from going hungry. Program Director Phyllis Keino and Farm Manager Jos Creemers know the value of sustainable agriculture. They also know that teaching modern farming techniques helps the Eldoret community avoid food insecurity. Maintaining a steady production of fruits, vegetables, dairy products and crops not only increases economic growth, but prevents malnutrition. On World Environment Day help the Baraka Farm with their efforts.

Uganda

Namunkanga Sustainable Farming Program, Uganda

We are also reminded that the Namunkanga Sustainable Farming Program in Uganda prevents over 1,600 people from enduring food insecurity. Your donation and support has already provided over 100 women and their families with food security. Donations empower the Namunkanga community by providing impoverished families with heifers. Families can then use the surplus milk to purchase much needed goods. World Environment Day reminds us that Bread and Water for Africa® can only continue that mission with your help.

Ethiopia

YETEEM Children and Destitute Mothers Fund, Ethiopia

On June 5th remember that over 2,000 hungry mouths would have gone unfed without the YETEEM Children and Destitute Mothers Fund. World Environment Day reminds us that Program Director Yimer Mohammed is deeply committed to teaching basic farming techniques to the Afar region of Ethiopia. Remember your gifts go toward increasing agriculture productivity and encouraging self-sufficiency. Donations aid in creating a small irrigation system and giving children a chance to learn without disruption.

World Environment Day reminds us that 25 percent of Sub-Saharan Africans do not have to suffer famine.
