Zaria’s Hope: Your Gift of Education

Tuesday, January 31, 2012

Meet Zaria, a 16 year old student at Sierra Leone’s Hill Station Senior Secondary School and beneficiary of your generous support to Bread and Water for Africa’s education programs. When her father died, Zaria’s family faced morbid destitution. Her mother took up the arduous occupation of stone-breaking for very low wages to support Zaria and their family, but they struggled for day-to-day survival. Education was not even considered to be an option for this desperate family.

Zaria expresses her deepest gratitude for her friends here at Bread and Water for Africa® and our supporters across America. Her smile says it all!

Thanks to your faith in our work – Zaria now has a reason to hope for a better future. Your gifts that cover the costs of Bread and Water for Africa’s school building projects that provide free or subsidized education for African children in-need allowed Zaria to attend – and flourish! At the Logos Academy in Sierra Leone, a quality school that is operated by our long-time grassroots partners at Faith Healing Development Organization.

Zaria overcame the many challenges presented in her young life to succeed at Junior Secondary School and excel into the Senior Secondary School. We say it often and it is no less true today – Education is the future of Africa; Education is the end of a deadly poverty cycle in Africa. Today, thanks to your compassion and generosity, Zaria has a quality education and chance for a better future.
