Providing a Brighter Future
for Africa’s Children

As a nonprofit and charitable organization, we partner with local African charities and NGOs to provide clean water, healthcare, food, education, orphan care, and more. Every project we support helps African children and families build a healthier, more self-sufficient future.

WATER IS LIFE.

We’ve worked with partners to provide clean water across Africa for many years. Whether it’s for a school, clinic, or farm, these life-changing water projects improve health, reduce hardship, and offer hope for a better future. Thanks to our generous supporters, our work continues in 2025 and beyond.

Maria is just one of the many children in Zimbabwe who were able to attend school last year thanks to Bread and Water for Africa®.

Many of these children have never been to school and rely on educational assistance and safe homes to access their rights and their future. Your support can make more of these stories possible — giving children the chance to learn, grow, and thrive.

“The love and care she received at Lerato healed the wound of having no one to care for her,” said Rumbidzai Chadamoyo, a social worker with Shinga Development Trust.

Maria knew she had to escape to change her life. At just 14, she endured daily abuse from her mother in Mozambique — left out of school, forced into chores, and told she was “a burden.”

With courage and faith, she made the dangerous journey across the forest border into Zimbabwe, hoping to find her father and a fresh start.

Instead, she was placed at Lerato Children’s Home, where everything began to change. With support from the home — and from Bread and Water for Africa® — Maria was given the chance to go back to school for the first time in years.

It wasn’t easy. She had missed years of lessons and faced a language barrier, but she worked tirelessly to catch up. This year, Maria moved from last in her class to ninth place, and she’s determined to keep climbing higher.

Today, Maria has found safety, education, and hope for the future — a transformation made possible through care, love, and the support of people like you.

A desk may seem small, but its impact is enormous.

Without proper seating:

•Children sit on cold floors or bare ground, straining their backs and necks.
•Overcrowding forces five or more children to share one desk, making it nearly impossible to write or concentrate.
•When learning is this uncomfortable, children miss school more often and fall behind in reading and math.

📚 For children in Africa, a simple desk can change everything.

Many students spend their school day sitting on the floor or sharing overcrowded desks. Writing, concentrating, and keeping up with lessons becomes a daily struggle—and too often, children fall behind.
