Providing Hope, Health, and Education in Africa

Since our inception 24 years ago, Bread and Water for Africa® has been committed to promoting positive change in Africa. Through the generosity of our donors, we support and strengthen impoverished communities and, through partnerships with local grassroots organizations in Cameroon, Chad, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, we promote self-sufficiency and improvements in health, education, clean water development, agricultural best practices, and sustainable energy.

Accountability & Recognition

We take financial transparency seriously because our donors deserve to know how their support is used. In FY 2024, 99.86% of all expenses went directly to international program services, with only a small fraction spent on overhead. Our work is guided by independent audits, strong governance, and a long-standing commitment to ethical stewardship.

Over the years, this commitment has translated into real, measurable change across Africa:

  • In 2007, we launched a banana plantation in Zambia to support the Kabwata Orphanage. Today, it generates up to $27,000 annually, helping feed and educate over 150 children.
  • Between 2020 and 2022, we funded 27 spring water protection projects across Uganda, giving safe drinking water to more than 18,000 residents.
  • In 2021–2022, our support helped refurbish 25 broken wells in Tanzania, restoring clean water access to nearly 30,000 villagers.
  • From 2002 to 2007, we constructed seven water wells in Mozambique’s Vimpa Village, transforming local access to clean water for thousands.
  • Since 2009, our partnership with Shinga Development Trust in Zimbabwe has supported orphan care, youth outreach, and agricultural initiatives, benefiting more than 1,800 children.

We are proud to stretch every dollar to create lasting impact across the continent.
